In the following, “We”, “Us” and “Our” refers to The Dotty Behaviourist. “You” or "Your" refers to you the client.
Our terms and conditions are in place to protect the welfare of our clients and their dogs. Before making any booking, please take time to read the Guidelines, Terms & Conditions for the relevant service, as well as our site's Privacy Policy. We reserve the right to update our terms and conditions at any time with immediate effect and it is your responsibility as the client to read and keep up to date with them.
PLEASE NOTE: By booking any of our services, you the client acknowledge that you have read, understood and fully accept all service relevant Terms and Conditions and general Privacy Policy as made available here.
Once booking has been confirmed via email, all sessions will either be carried out in your home or at a mutually agreed location depending on your dogs behavioural needs. Once you have made your inquiry via WhatsApp or email, we will endeavour to respond to you within 2-4 working days. At this point we will gather some more information on the issues present and will determine what service is best suited to your pets needs.
If a behavioural consultation package is the most appropriate, we will come to your home to go through an assessment questionnaire to get a general overview of your dogs behaviour and so we can gain some context of the behavioural problem in question. All sessions will be carried out by Alicia Kemmett. On occasion we may enlist the help of an experienced handler to assist with the practical session, this will be discussed with the client prior to the session commencing.
Following the initial consultation, we will write a behavioural report and behavioural modification programme to identify the function of the behaviour and to give a step by step guide to either modify or manage the behaviour. This will be forwarded to you within 7 days after your session, along with any handouts that may be appropriate.
Services and Fees
1-2-1s by the hour
‘Package’ sessions
Location
We are based in Cheltenham and also cover Tewksbury, Gloucester and surrounding villages within a 20 mile radius. Any clients residing outside of the catchment area will be charged extra for mileage.
Additional Sessions
It may be necessary for the more complex issues, multiple behaviour problems or for where there are multi-dog households, that follow-up visits are recommended. Any follow-up visits, should they be required, will be charged accordingly and you will be advised in advance to the cost.
Please note that some behavioural issues are often complex and it is therefore necessary that any potential underlying medical condition or potential cause of pain that could be contributing to your pet’s behaviour is ruled out by a qualified veterinarian prior to making a session booking.
Cancellations and refunds
If you need to cancel your appointment please do so with at least 48 hours notice so it can be rescheduled if needed. If you do not give the appropriate amount of notice we reserve the right to not give a refund. Regrettably, refunds for home visits, once completed, cannot be given. Refunds may be given for package sessions not yet completed in the event that the animal has been rehomed and no longer in the owner’s possession, or if the programme of sessions has been terminated by The Dotty Behaviourist for reasons of referral to another party e.g. Clinical Animal Behaviourist. (Please note: in these cases, only sessions not yet completed will be refunded).
Genuine emergencies will be considered case by case and a full refund or rebooking will be granted.
Disclaimer
We do not accept any responsibility of misinterpretation of our advice or training programmes given. Behaviour is often influenced by a variety of external factors and we cannot gaurentee our advice will be successful without controlling these external factors.
Animal aggression (at any level and to any extent) can cause injury, including fatal injury, to other animals and people. Treatment for any level of aggression is not a guarantee of success and modifying behaviour does not ensure that the aggression will be successfully controlled. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that their pet does not harm in the future. Precautions may involve, but are not limited to, keeping a dog on lead, the use of a muzzle, informing others of the dog’s aggressive tendencies, not mixing with certain types of people or other dogs, or confinement behind fencing and doors. Owners remain responsible for their dogs at all times and are advised they have adequate pet or household insurance cover for liability in the unlikely event of damage or injury caused by their dog to property or to a third party. It is strongly recommended that your dog is insured for third party liability with or without vet cover.
Cases of aggression in dogs may be symptomatic of more complex behavioural and psychological issues for which a qualified behaviourist may be required. The Dotty Behaviourist reserves the right to decline any cases, such as those of extreme aggression. In such cases, where possible we will provide details of a clinical animal behaviourist and refer you to them.
The Dotty Behaviourist reserves the right to terminate any agreed programme of behaviour and training sessions if we feel your dog’s issue would be better handled by an accredited behaviourist. In these cases, refunds may be issued at the discretion of The Dotty Behaviourist.
Confidentiality and Data Protection
